Where we Live and Work

Mixcor cares about the people and the communities where we operate and live.  As a company, we strongly believe in the social wellbeing of these communities.  This is reflected in our company's slogan "Strong From the Ground Up"  Leduc has always been home for Mixcor and the Mix family.  The activities of our business and industry take our People across the province.  Mixcor strives to ensure our support reaches all of the areas where we do business.  Supporting the communities where we work allows us to be involved in a wide variety of adventures from the performing arts to cows.

In 2004 Mixcor partnered with the Leduc Performing Arts and Cultural Foundation for the expansion of the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts.

Over the years Mixcor and the Mix Family have been involved with the Black Gold Health Foundation from board membership, golf tournaments, and special fundraising projects.

Mixcor established an annual Scholarship program in January of 2005 in memory of a long-time employee and friend, Murray Armstrong. In his position of Crusher Supervisor he gained the respect of his co-workers with his calm demeanor and was always a strong advocate of furthering one’s education. The Mixcor Aggregates Inc Scholastic Achievement Scholarship Program is available to eligible employees, their children, and their grandchildren who wish to upgrade their education.

In 2008, Mixcor Aggregates and the Mix Family signed an agreement for sponsorship of the "Mix Family Aquatic Centre" in the new Leduc Recreation Centre.  This is a 10 year partnershop with the City of Leduc.  The LRC is a great facility that promotes healthy lifestyle and allows the City to host first class events.

In 2012, Mixcor was also very pleased to have entered into a 10 year partnership to support the  "The Ponoka Ag Event Centre".  This is a great agricultural recreational facility that focuses on entertainment and education for the community, region and province.

Following the theme of cows, we have been fortunate to be a sponsor of the Black Gold Rodeo since their inception in 1969.  Over the years we have also purchased a countless number of 4H animals.  At times, we will sell raffle tickets to our employees for beef from these animals.  The money collected from the raffle is directed to our Community Relations Committee and used to support various charities in the communities where we operate.

In November 2012, we joined forces with the First Nations band in Hobbema.  Mixcor is working with the Samson Cree Nation in a number of support and work related activities, including a Community Development Incentive program.

Mixcor employees also provide amazing community support with the giving of their time and energy.  In 2011, Mixcor employees raised over $8,000 for the "Relay for Life" in Leduc.  Combined with the company's matching donation, we were able to give the Cancer Society over $16,000.  Employees have also given their personal time to Habitat for Humanity, Unicef, Santa's Anonymous, and various food banks in the communities where we operate.

Mixcor employees have been a big part of our Community Relations Committee and in the decision making process of where fundraised monies are distributed in to the communities where we work and live.
